Just one test for the UK
Together with the announcement by the Home Office that nurses, doctors and dentists would no longer need to sit a separate English test to apply for a Tier 2 (General) visa, it has never been easier for healthcare professionals to work in the  UK: OET will take them there.

OET engaged extensively with the NMC regarding the Writing requirement, providing evidence that an OET C+ is equivalent to an IELTS score of 6.5, which the Council has been accepting since late last year.

In addition, we provided the NMC with empirical evidence via a standard-setting workshop with NHS trusts that a C+ would meet the standard required by nurses in the workplace.

The change will come into effect from 28 January 2020. OET results achieved during the previous two years that meet the new requirements will also be accepted.

I personally applaud the NMC for the time and effort they have dedicated to come to this decision.
